Few firsts for me on this project.
First 54mm historical.
First Latorre sculpt (I know, why haven't I done one before?).
First time trying to paint a wood grain (the back of the shield is completely smooth).
First time trying to hint at reflections in the more polished metals.
First time rebuilding spears as the originals were quite soft metal wise.
First time entering a painting competition at a show (Salute 2017. Didn't take anything but has kicked me to try for a better finish).

Quite a strange one trying to think about historical colours. Made me try to desaturate my colours as the dyes wouldn't have been as saturated, which is something I don't really try. Did enjoy the ground work and want to try to get a more realistic look on future projects.

Will I try historical again. Yes. Will I paint more Latorre sculpts...hell yes!

Thank you for looking and feel free to leave critique.

    Nice and clean work :)

Cheers Paolo. Believe me, it’s not that clean. Though maybe some weathering should’ve happened.

Noooo. Still a long way from gold. Lots to learn and in some areas I feel I improved. Others, not so much.
