My entry for the 5th Dimension painting contest, and inaugural post on Paint & Putty!

Originally I had planned the scene to be very pulp comic-esque, but as I researched images for painting the first astronaut I got more of a hard SciFi feeling. Then I added back in the alien elements and this is what I came up with.
