My entry for Salute 2014. For those that do not know, Salute issue a free mini with your ticket each year. The challenge is then to do something interesting with it for next year's competition when the mini has its own class. This mini was a very nice plastic mini which originally had a static pose. I made a few minor adjustments to make it look as though he is barging into one skeleton whilst looking to take on the other one. The skeletons are made up of 1980s GW plastic skeleton warriors with the newer GW skulls which are more expressive and also slightly smaller than their older counterparts. I had to make a few minor cuts and adjustments to get the right pose for the 'barged over' skeleton.
Anyway, it was a fun little project ... and I almost turned the Salute mini into a duel! It also bagged me a second place trophy, which I was very happy with.

Some of the greatest painting and duels well ever see mark lifton always was a driving force on the miniature painting hobby long ago and still today his works adorn my wall in my studio I’ve had many blown up and framed professionally as he and Darren Latham are my favorite artists of all time and the single most important motivational force that have started and will always be why I gotten into the hobby in the first olace.gold

Thank you again for the very kind words, John. I am very honoured to think that my work has inspired you ... And to be mentioned in the same breath as Darren, who is an awesome painter.

Fantastic scene! I love miniatures painted by team from old “White Dwarf”. Timeless style and atmosphere.

    Thanks for many years inspiration!

    Cheers!

Cheers, Slawol. I am very proud that you think that I used to work as part of the White Dwarf team. I never made it to those lofty heights, but I have certainly been around a long time :0). And you are certainly spot on that I learnt most of my painting skills from following White Dwarf articles.

I meant - you’re the one of the guys that I remember from old WD magazine :) Damn, I miss those times and Golden Demon galleries…
