I’m a, now retired*, 2D/3D illustrator living
in The Netherlands.
I started my career as a independent
professional illustrator in 1979, working
mostly with airbrush, creating artwork
for brochures, magazines and advertising.
I started creating 3D work in 1998.
I had to stop working professionally in
2009 due to serious health problems;
* In 2012 I have been diagnosed with
Small Fiber Neuropathy, a condition
characterized by severe (burning) pain
attacks felt over the whole-body.
Small Fiber Neuropathy is considered
a form of peripheral neuropathy because
it affects the peripheral nervous system,
which connects the brain and spinal cord
to muscles and to cells that detect
sensations such as touch, smell, and pain.
To date, SFN is not curable and there are no
medicines that can relieve the pain that I have
to endure 24/7.
I now create/paint sculptures, dioramas and
vignettes just for fun and as a distraction
from the 24/7 pain. I can only work for an hour
a day and in some cases not for weeks or even
months. That’s also the main reason why I’m
not able to often create or show new work.
Thank you for your interest in my work!
