I’m a, now retired, 2D/3D illustrator living in The Netherlands.
I started as a professional illustrator in 1979, working for a small creative agency.
Six years later, in 1985, I tried my luck by starting my own small studio as a artist, creating illustrations
for national and international clients, and having been doing so with a lot of joy ever since.
Next to my main work as a illustrator, creating vignettes and dioramas always have been a great hobby
since the early ‘70’s, mostly subjected to the WWII period.
Unfortunately my career as illustrator, abruptly came to a sadfull ending that forced me to stop
working professionally in 2009 due to serious health problems; I suffer from a progressive illness, what
means my clinical picture will grow worser over the years to follow, and there’s yet no cure.
But creativity is hard to ignore or to stop, So early 2015, I picked up this old hobby as a kind of distraction
of my illness. However, during the last couple of years I more and more lost interest in the WWII era and
wanted to start something new: trying to scratch build/paint fantasy figures, vehicles, vignettes or (if even
possible) small dioramas.
Please bare in mind, when you view my work, that I do this foremost (as said earlier) as a distraction from
the 24/7 pain and extreme fatigue that I have to endure caused by my illness and can only work for about
one to two hours max, spread over the day. But there are also periods in my life I can’t do anything at all
for weeks or, sometimes, even months.
Having said all of this, I hope you can appreciate what I create and thank you kindly for your interest in my work!
