This is a piece I did a few years ago and it's still one of my favorites. It's a 120mm bust based on a Pulitzer Prize-nomjnated photograph by Michael Yon; it shows US Army Major Mark Bieger carrying a mortally wounded Iraqi girl named Farah in the city of Mosul in 2005. She was wounded by a suicide bomber and this photo is taken just afterwards- I found it incredibly moving and knew I had to make it into a bust. The bust is based on a couple commercial components heavily converted, with the rest sculpted from Aves Apoxie Sculpt, then painted with Vallejo and Reaper acrylics.
