I'd wanted to paint a gladiator for a while, and I managed to find this one going cheap at Herzog von Bayern, which was quite fortuitous. It's a great, simple model, and beautifully sculpted. I went with blue for something a bit more striking than a lot of my usual stuff, and I'm very pleased with the result. The duck pattern on the shield is based on a Roman mosaic pattern I found.
