This is my first bust. I chose Figone's lion for this, as it is less intimidating than a human for large scale to start - next up is a human! I imagined this lion as whimsically day dreaming about a fantasy world. He's attached to his base by a magnet, so I can change that later if I want. I also took this figure as a practice for mostly-monochrome (used a range of blues, whites and black, instead of a single blue). Paints are by Reaper, and a few S75 and Vallejo.

Some wonderful patterning around the face. You must have really enjoyed this piece.

He was wonderful to paint! I’m usually quite slow and he flowed extremely well from start to finish. I don’t know if it was the limited palette or the figure itself, but it was quite pleasing.

Awesome work, love the monochromatic tone you went with. I think I saw this on the Colorado Miniature Painters page if I’m not mistaken? Anyway thanks for favoriting!

    • Rhiana, "Cyradis"

Yup! I did it for their bust painting event earlier this year.
