For this model I went for three shiny textures, gold/bronce metallics, oriental silk (pink) and lacquered wood (wine red tones), which required hard contrast. To keep the same contrast line in the whole model, I had to push up contrast in my regular pink flesh painting technique and paint the hair shadows over the face and shoulderpads shadows over the fabric by hand.
I thought seriously several times to add a third color range to the general scheme, some kind of bluish green oxide here and there over the armor to complement red tones, break a little bit the warm ambience and achieve some temperature contrast, but I discarded it because there were to much new things on one single model and I'm pretty happy with final result and the things I learned.
By the way, it was not a hard model to paint and I hightly recomend it.

Hello, thank you! I was afraid that pink seemed too much “hello Kitty”. But at the end, becouse how pink combines with the other used colors, it seems a cool atmosphere.
Maybe some simple freehand on fabric with the same bluih grey used for silk would be add more richly to the piece. And as an alternative, the hair in that grey and the backgrund in red/pink would be nice as well.
By the way, in general terms, I am happy with the scheme color choosed and glad you like it too.

Hola! Muchímas gracias, me alegro que te guste. Tenía cierto miedo de que el rosa fuera demasiado “Hello Kitty” y al final, por como combina con lo de alrededor, ha quedado una atmósfera muy chula. A lo mejor algun freehand sencillo en el kimono, en ese gris azulado del Obi o la katana, le habría dado más riquezá. Y como alternativa, el pelo en ese gris, alguna cicatriz o alguna mancha en la cara (para hacerla más curtida, y el fondo rojo/rosa pienso que también podría ser muy acertado.
Pero en lineas generales, me alegro de que gusten estos colores porque yo, la verdad, estoy bastante contenta :D.

Si, gracias! estoy también participando el kickstarter por que me gustan mucho esos muñecos o ese estilo (igual que los de Sergio Calvo) y bueno… La verdad es que muy buena calidad tanto de resina como el casteo el de big child, este busto me encantó trabajarlo, estoy actualmente experimentando o explorando un cambio de escala, este mi primer 1:10, pensaba que iba a ser más difícil, y el busto fue un placer un disfrute trabajarlo.
Ahora si que es cierto que este estilo va muy muy bien con las 28mm, pero estas miniaturas más grandes se quedan un poco vacías, en este busto en concreto hay mucha superficie donde se podía haber añadido más riqueza en muchas formas, y espero poco a poco ir amoldándome. A partir del 22 de octubre volveré a la carga con otro busto de Pedro Fernández, y ya estoy pensando en como quiero hacer el Dragon King gratis.
