I've been experimenting with under painting for a while. I would block in my values with Venetian Red and White and glaze from there. But it always ended up as an analogous colour scheme, scared to push it outside of predicable behaviour. Time invested in the under painting blah,blah, blah. Excuses, excuses.

I'm happy with this. I'm going to be interested to see what can happen next.

Interesting thing with the pink and green scales. I modelled it off a Bicolour Parrotfish... which was the male morph. And the main enemy of Parrotfish... the Moray Eel.
It's a happy accident, I had more than enough time to change my mind, but it suits. Mermaids don't need to follow mammal outward indicators of sex.
