A very striking portrait. The colours are well balanced, and the metal surfaces particularly convincing, as is the flesh. The yellow of the cloak is an unusual choice, and I’m not sure whether it’s meant to be leather or wool, but in either case the worn-out, grimy look is very effective. The red of the tunic sleeves, however, seems too glossy.
BTW the Aquila is the eagle standard itself, not the standard bearer, who is the Aquilifer (eagle bearer). As the figure is carrying the eagle wrapped up on his back, the title the manufacturer has chosen is somewhat ambivalent.
