Sometimes the brain goes odd places. This was an experiment in underpainting, as I sketched the entire thing in blue before I coloured it. A valuable experience to say the least, that will definite trick cameras into capturing a much 'warmer' scene than reality if you let them. I suppose that means, it worked? And if it didn't it was a nice ride, very fun to play with.

Part 2 of the underpainting project is here: https://www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/23060

Where this piece, is dark, fatalistic, and more extreme, the counterpart, underpainted in yellow is more a triumph. Possibly brighter.

Everything except the figure (Blacksun - Ora), was created from scratch

Super cool! Could you say a few words about the text? Very curious!

    • Kyle Maitland

Thanks, glad you enjoyed this, relative oddity I suppose.

So the text, it is I guess thoughts, in a way, to play off the title of the piece (exit the actress).  On one hand, they could be the thoughts of a performer at the end of a show at good night (to the audience), take a bow, the show’s over (as in time to go home, we are done entertaining you).  But then we can take a more dark approach, she’s done, she’ll say good night, (forever) and take a bow (her last one), as this is the end of the line.  Kind of a double entendre if you will.  The lighting between spotlight and red from one side is intended to enhance this fatalistic vibe.

Just the odd direction a feel and a title gave me. Connections between verse, painting, and atmosphere.
