This was my my entry to @theprintinggoeseveron monthly painting competition and models through their Patreon. Great and insanely detailed intricate models!

The theme of is "There is always light in shadows"

My interpretation in this piece is about self reflection and what you may or may not see through a shattered reality and what shadows lurk either around or within.

This piece is all in how you wish to interpret it though, it's open, who is the one in reality peering at a reflection or are they both realities with a Ying and Yang, the ebb and flow of light and dark. Or is it all a dream?

What do you think?

I really like the idea and use of colors. Not sure the shattered effect quite worked but I applaud you being brave and going for it. :). One other thought for the future would be to maybe have the figures a bit off center. Like one towards the right and the other to the left. Good work.

Thank you for the criticism and thoughtful feedback :) I agree that the effect didn’t really “sell” but it was a good experience.
I was thinking about composition a lot with this piece, my thought process in order for me to have the idea of the broken mirror I leant more in line with true reflections and placements so each piece was going to be mirrored to where it would be on either side, likewise with the cats but it is true that if the piece was cut in three, two of those thirds are occupied and one side is a bit barebones.
Thanks again for the feedback, it’s not often that I have done a scene :)
