In conjunction with Nordlys Miniatures release of Mujin Park’s Woe sculpture, I was given the opportunity to make a project based on it. This was really appreciated as when Mujin first showed WIP pictures, I knew it was a topic I wanted to make a project with.

The feel and symbolism come from some recurring nightmares I have. I’ve also taken inspiration to express them from Carlos Schwabe. He made many works that could relate, but his 1906 painting Wave is a good one.

    Astonishingly good. You and Jakob have knocked this out of the park. I don’t often think models deserve to be in art galleries, but this definitely does. It’s elevating the artform/showing what miniature painting can be. Emotional depth without being heavy-handed or mawkish. I could go on for hours.

      This is a big personal goal for me. I don’t think about it once I have started a project because it is mostly a personal and internal process instead of thinking about what “an audience would like”. But it is always in the background of my works that are not solely for practicing. So your comment makes me very happy :)

      With regards to not being heavy-handed or mawkish, I think everyone expresses things differently and maybe being heavy-handed is how they express themselves. I am of a more chill and contemplative demeanor. Even though things like this are expressing my personal experience, I do try to be tasteful about it because there are people who have had experiences with this topic that are deeply deeply painful.
