Hello fellow painters!

I would like to share with you my first bust ever. It is amazing sculpt by Lukáš Žaba, who creates vivid and characterful faces with great features for painting.

I made a lot of mistakes during this bust. I used the wrong basecoat for oils, I let it dry too much and I was trying oil colours for the first time so the proper technique was not used as well. But I had a chance of talking about the process with Lukáš Žaba himself and he showed me amazing tips and tricks of how to properly use oils. Then Jan Soukup, another amazing painter helped me a lot with freehand and tones of the skin. Both of them showed me how to properly implement the techniques, which I wanted to use. It was a great experience to see masters at work.

The bust is not the best it could be, I know that. Somehow it is not complete. But I think that for now, I want to put it on the shelf and move forward. Maybe in the future, I can do a second version, as I really love the sculpt.

This bust was my first dive into a larger scale, other than Warhammer minis and I've really enjoyed it and plan to continue as painting this broadened my horizons and I am super excited to improve and continue.
