This is the first full large scale figure with a base I’ve painted before. Vi was my favourite character from Arcane, and when I came across the sculpt I really wanted to try and do it justice. I tried to put some of the elements of the art from the show into my regular painting style, rather than attempt to match the art style of the show - but hope you all like it anyway! I’ve really made an effort to try and have at least something interesting to look at from as many angles of the model as possible (and of course had to add at least a bit of Jinx graffiti on the back)
I finished this for The Crimson Brush competition on recently in Australia where I was incredibly fortunate to be awarded Best in Show for it. I had originally planned a few more models for the competition but this one blew out the schedule as I had a ton of difficulties painting it. I first thought it wouldn’t be too much tougher than painting a bust, but the size (it’s 1/18 scale, about 15cm tall), the base and a few other issues I had (including breaking multiple different parts at different times and getting quite sick about half way through) just ended up meaning it took a lot longer than I expected. I also had to reposition the model, as the original sculpt has her a bit too hunched over for my taste, and then sculpted some extra elements to fill out the base.
