I sculpted this same subject traditionally with putty and sculpey several years ago. The sculpture was eventually produced by an American manufacturer and is now currently being manufactured by El greco Miniatures. I could not resist sculpting this piece again, this time digitally. The subject is based on a pen and ink sketch of a pirate by illustrator Howard Pyle. Like it's traditional cousin the digital version presented itself with it's own share of challenges.
