Acrylic Paint
Based on original artwork By @robertoferri_official
Sculpture and 3d adapt by @leila_khaliliart
This is the latest piece I painted, and it was one of the works I presented at WME this weekend.
"Several years ago, I discovered Roberto Ferri's work and found it tremendously inspiring. His way of working with skintones, the gestures of his bodies, and the expressiveness of his hands and feet seemed as beautiful as it was tempting.
When Leila beautifully modeled this piece, I wrote to her to paint it, long before any other version had been seen. However, my schedule hadn't allowed me to work on the figure until this year.
Many interpretations of Roberto Ferri's work have been seen, and it's clear that this isn't an original piece on our part, but that wasn't my intention either.
I've been painting figures all my life, almost always commissions and pieces for others. I'm very aware of where I am and what it entails to do something like this, and I fully assume the risks of presenting a piece based on someone else's artwork.
I simply wanted to paint a sculpture I liked in a way that inspired me. And enter it into a competition because, in the end, it's my showcase.
Thanks to everyone who wrote this weekend. Thanks to my brother, my girlfriend, family and friends, and especially to my students, who are my main motivation to continue participating in competitions.
And of course thanks to Leila for letting me enjoy such an incredible
