The diorama “Autumn Fall” by Nocturna is truly beautiful. I wanted to breathe a final breath of life into the old tree, just like the departing summer. That’s why I added a few branches with leaves. The scene is lightly painted with warm tones near the lamp, and cooler ones on the opposite side.
Besides Tolkien’s Middle-earth, I’m also deeply moved by “Watership Down” by Richard Adams. That’s why, at the hobbits’ feet, there’s an entrance to a burrow, guarded by the rabbit Hazel-nut, and further inside lies the doe Hyzenthlay with her young. These beautiful figures were created by Oliver Speath, along with the squirrels and the hamster.
The inscription on the base reads:
The Fallohides, the least numerous, were a northerly branch. They were more friendly with Elves than the other Hobbits were, and had more skill in language and song than in handicrafts; and of old they preferred hunting to tilling. (J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring)
