Lord of the Jungle
Legends of the Jungle Kickstarter, 75 mm
Comission work.
Done in 2017.

The muddy jungle bottom yells his name in praise.
Every living creature that moves and make sounds calls his name.
Everything is one in the jungle. One vibrant might. He runs it.
And when he calls the jungle answers.

I never build such a big base again. Sadly I was not able to get a good photo of the whole piece as it is just too big for the superlarge light box in the studio. One shot in the end with the mobile phone shows it on the table in full.

Keep on happy painting!

    Love this one Roman!!
“I never build such a big base again” -> That’s what you said with “The Last Light” hahaha. I know one day a big base will call your name, my friend. One day…. ;-)

    • Roman LappatPLUS

Hahahha… yeah i remember what I said. Not goos in learning things I guess :D

  • Curmudgeon

    wow!!!! Hiperrealistic.
I love your style of real painting, many will say it is “dirty” but I tell them that reality is dirty.
    Incredible little details.

    • Roman LappatPLUS

Absolutely true. Well i do not judge different painting styles. Clean, dirty, vivid, dark, childish ... everything has its meaning and people are different, so shall be their styles in painting. I appreciate different styles a lot. Clean and smooth blendings in my oppinion is not a style. It is a technique. Several techniques make up a style. Thanks for your comment!

  • Max Faleij

    Awesome, love it!

  • Thorsten Wachtmeister, "Scar"

You´re a mad man, Roman! Loved it from the first sight of your first WIP pictures and knew that it would turn out epic. And so it did….

    • Roman LappatPLUS

Many thanks, Thorsten. I sometimes do not like to be mad with such projects. I start hating them while creating ... but ending such feels like a little rebirth.

  • JeanMarc Brisset

    • Roman LappatPLUS

I did not count the days. Estimated hours in the full project is ~200 hours…

    • Luc "Windtalker" Vanpoucke

Infact, was my question, how many day’s did you lived in the real jungle to create this beauty

  • PierreYves"LordB"Geneste

It’s good to see how good you are, when you’re lost in youre own jungle !!!Gross coup-de-coeur !!!

  • Jose_A_Alfonso

    A nice work, congrats!

  • Josh "Zozimus" Pattison

Very interesting interpretation!  May I ask, why did you choose to add the beard?  And also, did you sculpt the little monkeys?  :)

    • Roman LappatPLUS

Thank you. Sure, i created the beard as in my vision of Tarzan this guy does not shave very often. Most of the monkeys and birds are from Mantis Miniatures, Butterflies, Snakes and Geckos by Busch and the big monkey by Smog.

  • Oliver Posvek (Colouristo)
