This 1/72 Zouave from the nice Italeri set was painted for a friendly competition over at Benno's Figure Forum, an online community specialized on 1/72 figures.

The whole project was a bit of a rollercoaster ride: I destroyed the first version by attempting to change the plastic loading rod with an acupuncture needle to get a more correct scale, then I could not find time to work on the project and, finally, I had to force myself to make at least as much progress on the mini to submit it to the competition. I, then, already had lost interest and had to leave the mini in my WIP drawer. Before SMC 2018, I sat down to finish it, built a little base for him and added a few more details.

The mini depicts a soldier from the 11th Indiana Infantry Regiment, "Wallace's Zouaves", sometime during the Battle of Vicksburg, May to June 1863, at the height of the American Civil War.

Thanks for watching, I hope you like it. Best,

D.

Sounds like a tough little project to finish, but it turned out beautifully! 72 scale can be a real challenge due to its tiny size. :-D Well done!
