This piece has been a pretty long time (for me anyway) in the making. The moment I saw the Elements from the League I instantly bought in, but then I had to spend four weeks thinking about painting them before I could start, as I continued to travel around Europe!


As a result, this piece is probably more considered than most of my other pieces.

Firstly, the Elements are positioned very specifically, with the lightest being at the top, and the heaviest at the bottom. Each of them has their own space at a differing height, as well as placement. Secondly, there is a split on the left and right between cold, and warm colours. And finally, the piece uses a secondary triad of colours, focusing on green, orange and purple for the majority of the elements. These are also positioned in a way that replicates a colour wheel, and as a result it feels (to me at least) like very circular, replicating nature.


The intent is that the piece should feel very harmonious, despite having a variety of models and colours, I feel very pleased with the outcome.

    I love all the little details too: the swan, the serpent + apple, the fire, the individual tattoos… so much thought going into this.

    A very interesting composition, and I appreciate you explaining it Trent. A mammoth amount of work on any level to paint all 4 of these, especially so quickly.  Nice work, quite striking. 

    Not to detract from the above but I think your overall goal for harmonious may have held you back with regards to the details on each of the individual models though, and particularly fire I feel comes across a bit samey. lacking much variation.  I feel there is variance in the level of finish between some of the elements (notably air looks most complete to me, fire least).  And from a personal level I would just like more colour in general, but I am rather obnoxious that way.
