Sculpted by the greek master sculptor and modeller Ioannis Papoulakos, as a commemorative bust for the 80th year since the greek involment to the wwII and was presented at the 2nd ARTA model scale competition.

I painted this exceptional bust using artistic oils. Depicts in scale ~1/12 an "evzon" private, as he was looking during the wwII, wearing his woollen khaki battledress . On the head wears his characteristic cap (farion, greek "φάριον") with its long silk made tassel.

[ Since the establishment of the regular hellenic army, men coming from the mountainous mainland o Greece, formed the so called "evzonic" battalions of the light infantry and they supposed to be the successors of the Achilleus' Myrmidones elite band. Ferocious, militant, fearless, famous for their assaults using their bayonette and the war cry "AERA !", they took part in all the conflicts and wars of the Hellenic Army since then. They are still serving as the Presidential Guard, with mostly ceremonial duties at the grecoturkish border line, the Presidential palace and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ]

    θόδωρε καλησπέρα, βλέπω τις δουλειές σου και θεωρώ ότι έχεις βελτιωθεί πολύ αλλα θα σου πώ κάτι και άν θέλεις με ακούς ή με γράφεις. Θεωρώ ότι σου μειώνει πολύ τη δουλειά σου το βάψιμο του φλές με λάδια , βγάζεις ένα κοκκινωπό πρόσωπο χωρίς να έχει τις πτυχώσεις και το βάθος που δίνουν τα ακρυλικά χρώματα με εντυπωσιακά αποτελέσματα, φυσικά δε ξέρω πώς χρησιμοποιείς τα λάδια, πάντως γνώμη μου είναι να δοκιμάσεις το βάψιμο του φλές με ακρυλικά.

      Για μένα δεν υπάρχουν θέσφατα, είμαι πάντα ανοιχτός σε προτάσεις και σ’ευχαριστώ για αυτές.
      Το θέμα στις αποχρώσεις το καθορίζει η παλέτα και όχι το υλικό. Πιστεύω, δηλαδή, πως και με ακρυλικά χρώματα πάλι τις ίδιες αποχρώσεις δέρματος θα έβγαζα (άλλο που δεν μπορώ να τα δουλέψω...). Είναι αλήθεια πως κοκκινίζει το πρόσωπο, λόγω υπερβολικής σκίασης στις κοντινές φωτό. Η κατά το δυνατόν ακριβέστερη αποτύπωση της απόχρωσης του δέρματος είναι στην πρώτη φωτό, με το χέρι μου πίσω της.
