Weekend Challenge #5

Whoa, can't believe we have kept the Weekend Challenges going for 5 months. Of course I want to get to 12 months, a full year. I hope that Casey and I can look back on it and see our progress and have become more bold with our painting choices.

La Charra from Creepy Tables was the subject this time. File came with some really nice pre-supports, and I'm very happy to see companies going in this direction. If you know any Aussies, you know we all complain about shipping costs, and with the current world shipping is starting to chomp into everyone now. Well... Digital products help here.

My self imposed challenge for this one was trying to get a decent quick multicoloured white (See my White Dragon for the polished version) that was easily explained.

The 'white' was done with a off white basecoat, then glazes with multiple layers of strong transparent washes. The highlights were done with pale pastels of minty white, light purples, sky blues and pinks.

Hair was in fluro gouache. Like the goblin before the results were very chalky. Think I will replace these paints with acrylic fluros in the future. Believe it will increase my enjoyment when painting greatly.

White facepaint was done in gouache over an acrylic base. Seems it is a polarising part of the mini. But I'm quite fond of it. And I wanted to give it a go.

This Weekend Challenge had some major real life interuptions for Casey, so maybe we will post her work up later. Or not, we will see.
