After seeing Erik Swinson working on one I was inspired to try my hands on one of these models and thankfully got a commission for it. I generally don't paint "whimsy" models, but this bust changed my mind on the idea pretty quickly. While it is at first glance a fairy-tale-looking character, there's a lot of deeper emotion in this sculpt.
The model has a lot of "new" things for me in it. Freehanded 3d details (the face on the shield), brushed metals, wood and "heavy" leather (big thanks to Marc Masclans for the inspiration for it).
Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out, I think all my goals for the model have been achieved and I truly hope you like him as well!
