Just completed this wonderful James Rice Scuplt of an 18th Century Highlander. This piece has been one of many challenges and victories over textures and painting techniques. I have grown further as a painter during this process. Please notice the woven texture in the tunic, the tartan pattern and texture, the leather texture, the non-metallic metal, the wool texture of the beret, and the woodgrain texture on the bagpipes. I also used a green underpainting technique for the flesh of the face, arms, and hands known as verdaccio. This piece was a true pleasure to paint. Enjoy!
