Thanks, Roman! It really is a lot of fun. These trolls are a continuation of a large drawing project I undertook in the Fall. I don’t know how many I’ll do, but for now I’m enjoying it immensely.
With your sculpts it is clear that your style grows so much. I love how it blends your painting and unique approach to backgrounds. The trees, how they stand out due to their sharp lines add almost a “comic book” approach to it. It blends together really well. Beautiful miniature.
Thanks for your kind words. These projects have felt much closer to what I’m always trying to depict in my art than most of the minis I’ve painted. As I said in my response to Roman, these pieces fit in closely with my 2D drawing style and subjects. Even though I have a lot to learn as a sculptor and painter, it has felt liberating to have control over the whole process. I love the look of fairy tale illustration, and I hope to catch a bit of that in these works.
