From my perspective the brass plinth is distractful in its color and brightness. I sometimes paint these black too to make them stand back and to provide full attention to the miniature! Keep on happy painting!
I like that there are more and more version of this bust! Nevertheless, there are so many things I like on your piece. The colour choices and subtle transitions are done well and I like the feel of the piece being almost monochromatic, but the orb gives it the punch of colour. My favourite detail is the glowing fingers, when they come in contact with light. It looks lovely. And the fact that you did it in oils is cool, I would have never said that it was oils!
