A fantastic scene from Terrible Kids Stuff. I really enjoyed this project. I always like non-green orcs, and I’ve felt my last attempts at a more yellowish skin tone weren’t successful. Here, I decided to include a chartreuse type tone into the mix, and it really helped. In this case, poison green from Kimera.



It’s a large model, and it is both deceptively simple and deceptively complex. What I mean is that the sculpt is wonderfully executed, and very painter-friendly. So it is much easier to deal with than you might expect when wrestling with what amounts to 4 characters. Then again, it’s 4 very fun, well sculpted characters, each screaming to be seen lol. So I had to work hard to give each character its due, so to speak. It ended up being a really fun and challenging study in composition, focus and balance.

    Yeah! Really strong! Lovely color choices, the level of detail is really nice. You captured the scene really lovely. I voted gold, but do see some things I miss. Meant just as positive feedback: The level of detail in some parts is so good, faces, mouth ... but for example I miss some more damage and scratches to the purple shoulder plates and overall on the armour. The orc’s shoe laces could recieve single dots to represent the material a bit better. I really like this piece, do not get me wrong. I think it could benefit from increasing the time to work on micro details to get an overall sharper definition and resolution. Nonetheless, a lovely piece! Keep on happy painting!

      Thank you for that great feedback Roman!  Yeah, I really wrestled a lot with maintaining balance and focus in the one with all the elements.  And weathering the metals all around was one thing in particular that I went back and forth on.  I plan to go back to this piece to raise the level further for potential competition entries, and both of the ideas you gave me are ones I will likely add at that time.  Thanks again - your feedback is always very appreciated
