during the Hundred years War, Raoul Iv of Brienne re-conquered many french cities occupied by the English, before being captured at the battle of Caen (Normandy) in 1346.
After having paid his ransom demand, he made several journeys back to england, and therfore was suspected of treason by the french king Jean II le Bon, and finished captured and beheaded without trial in 1350.

The fig is a conversion from 75mm knights from Pegaso and Romeo and some scratch work.
The heraldry is rather complex, ans was not the easiest to paint.

    Très belle peinture Marc, félicitations !! J’aime particulièrement l’héraldique sur le caparaçon, les couleurs se marient bien entre elles. Les fourreaux de la dague et de l’épée sont splendides….
    Pour moi deux petits points noirs, le visage (sculpture) du chevalier qui n’est pas à la hauteur du reste de la pièce et les entailles sur le bouclier trop régulières et trop marquées… peut-être également un manque de différence entre le traitement du tissus et la peinture sur le bouclier, mais cela reste une pièce magnifique qui mérite toute mon admiration pour ton travail. ;-)

      thanks Theodoros ; I use little plastic templates of different sizes to enable me to get the approximate correct size of each lions (20 lions in total ! )
      I apply these templates on the undercoat and then paint tiny colored dots to get the general shape.
