I sculpted this piece way back when and finally decided to paint it using an approach I'm too scared to use on other miniatures. Inspired by masters such as Roman Lappat; Alfonso Giraldes; and, of course, Van Gogh, I resolved use a quicker approach, mixing primary colours on the palate and applying them without thought of blending.

F...f...forget smoothness! :)

The final image features a background painted by my wonderful 2-year old, Isaac.

I had a lot of fun painting this, trying to balance a believable greenish skin tone whilst using colour in unexpected ways. It made me think I should get back to sculpting and make some more of these academic style busts to try painting like this again.
