Hello guys!
This is my entry for the Monte San Savino Show. It was a collaboration with the very talented Leila Khalili. The model is based on a masterpiece by our favourite artist, Roberto Ferri. I feel so honored for the opportunity to paint this piece.
This was my first time participating in a contest. Although I couldn't travel there due to my injury, I am very grateful for the positive remarks from the community.
Although I didn't follow the original painting, I tried to stay loyal to the style of Roberto Ferri. The anatomy was very complex, and I struggled quite a bit. Since I had only about 10 days to paint the entire model, some places are a little hasty, but I will refine it sometime later.
I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Cheers!

Fantastic work moses. You become really good interpreting 3d those kinds of Canvas.
But know you by far demotrated your technique, I really miss some creativity in your work. Also narratove. Roberto ferri has in his canva some symbolic elements which miniature painters usually does not hightligh enough.
That’s why i don’t give you an editors (even i know this piece Will end at web cover the same).

Thank you for your honest comment. This is definitely a conversation I am interested in having, preferably offline, because online exchanges are often taken more aggressively than intended.

I don’t think creativity or storytelling should be judged with only one dimension. There is more to creativity than merely adding abstract elements or bold colours.

Beauty itself is also creative. I love Roberto Ferri for his ability to convey beauty. His symbolism is personal, so although I am definitely interested in studying them, they are not my primary target.

While I am interested in designing original miniatures and scenes, I am happy with my current progress in exploring techniques by analyzing the masters.

It is a beautiful piece of art. Leila did a wonderful job on the sculpture and you on the painting. I was lucky enough to see it in person and it was jaw-dropping and really nice. The skin tone of the woman is spectacular and I was really surprised by how polished and clean it is and how deep the shadows are. I loved this piece.

You’re one of living masters. My hat off.

Not sure how one could top this work, it looks like a classical painting in every respect.  So, I would say you’ve met your goal.  Incredibly well done, Moses!

This is another level of painting and understanding, very far from the rest. Contrary to other opinions, I dont think you lack creativity becouse this is actually an study of Roberto Ferri Art but done with your use of color and light. I saw it in hand and it was a real pleasure. It is for sure editors becouse it is a top painting and at least an original kind of figure.  I do not usually write comments but this one deserves it. The sculpture by leila was a perfect canvas and I just hope to enjoy to paint one model like this someday. Congratulations and thanks for your paintings.
