I learnt a lot at the Dogma48 weekend in February 2019. So much so that I thought I would have another crack at a samurai and backdrop. This sculpt is so full of tiny details. So much so that my left eye blew out and now I look like a zombie! Haha.

He was a lot of fun and I now have a bug for painting samurai... Doh!

      Haha. Thank you for sculpting such a beautiful piece. I learnt a lot about how samurai dress and armoured themselves in the process. As for my eye it will heal but my wife thinks I look scary with burst blood vessels making it all red.

    I love the background and the rich(ard) contrast play. I do miss a little bit of green atmosphere somehow in the model to connect better with the basework. Lovely work!

      Thanks Roman. I limited the green to just his sleeves and tunic. However there is olive glazed into the shadows of the red armour. I didn’t want to overdo it though and have him disappear into the background. It was a bit tough to guess though because they were painted separately and then integrated at the last minute.
