this is one of two figures that you'll recognise from TKS. I wanted to paint and base them separately.
I really tried to push contrast as it is something I always struggle with, whilst also staying true to my developing style, muted and natural colours. I also wanted to make this an exercise in texture and I really wanted this old warrior to have thick leathery skin.

So besides being technically on the mark ide like to talk about ine of the other things judges can be drawn to a winning model for. That’s having a connection to the piece. I immediately look at the model on that base- and I immediately imagine a narrative of the King of his orc tribe holding aloft a goblin head as a triumph and clear message to his massive crowd of irks below the mountain top. Exclaiming goblins are our slaves they are not our equal - let this be a lesson to the inferior green skin race .never cross our paths in rebellion. You will pay.
