This is my entry into the large scale category at Crystal Brush. I've wanted to paint a samurai for a long time but only recently felt my painting ability was up to the task. The design work on the his chest, arms, and legs is all done freehand. Because of the complexity and level of detail in his clothing/armor, I decided to go with a simple color scheme to help visually tie the figure together. This was definitely a challenging figure to both build and to paint. I enjoyed the experience, however it will be a while before I'm ready to paint another samurai!

Please note the first image above was taken by the Crystal Brush staff. I took the rest of the photographs (hence the different background).

Thanks, Tim and Ben!  Ben, I appreciate the sentiment, though the pieces that beat me out definitely deserved their awards.  It’s all inspiration and motivation to come up with something even better next time!
